Equality Starts From Within - Pride Month Kickoff

Join Advocis Newfoundland & Labrador on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, from 9:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. (Newfoundland Time) as they kick off Pride Month with this half-day virtual session.

We are inviting members of our peer Atlantic chapters (Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick) and all members and non-members across the country.

Join us for this double-headed session moderated by:

Dane Woodland, consultant and public speaker whose focus is on supporting and transforming inclusive practices.

1. In his first session Dane will focus on "Equality starts from within" through exercises and discussion to unlock our own negative self talk, inner bias and inherited thought which can often prevent us from presenting ourselves as equals.
2. The second half of the event will be a discussion on community inequality and shine the light how to ensure we build inclusive lives and practices focusing on language and action.

Dane Woodland

Dane Woodland is a consultant and public speaker whose focus is on supporting and transforming inclusive practices. In 2016, Dane delivered a TEDxYouth talk entitled: “How Male Privilege Made Me a Feminist” and has since been active in speaking at schools, professional workshops, and guest lectures at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Dane is a contributing author to transVersing, an award-winning publication through Breakwater Books (2018). With a broad range of interests, Dane thrives in community-forward environments and focuses specifically on wellbeing and belonging, particularly in the sport and wellness industry.

While based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Dane works not only in his local area but nationally and internationally, as well. He is part of a select group of global advisors to lululemon for its commitments to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Action and has an ever-growing resume in consulting with notable sport and wellness organizations like Softball Canada and Precision Nutrition. With 6 years experience of dedicated advocacy and public speaking, Dane considers himself a lifelong learner who continues to grow each time he has the opportunity to connect with the community.
