Guest Speaker:
Gurpreet K. Randhawa
Principal, Sitka Law Group
I was born and raised in Victoria. I am bilingual – I was raised speaking English and Punjabi. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Victoria and subsequently moved to Toronto, Ontario where I completed law school. During my second year of law school I made the decision to leave the cold winters of Ontario and return to the place I consider home.
I articled and practiced at a firm in downtown Victoria where I gained knowledge and experience in the areas of wills and incapacity planning, estate administration, real estate law, employment law and corporate and commercial law.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking the coastal trails and volunteering for various non-profit organizations. I began volunteering at the age of 14 and currently I am particularly interested in organizations that advocate for individuals who are directly or indirectly impacted by mental illness. In this regard, I currently sit on the Board of the Bipolar Disorder Society of British Columbia.

Community Support:
This year Vancouver Island Advocis has chosen to support the Victoria Women’s Transition House with our fundraising efforts from our continuing education program events. The VWTH provides a critical service in our community, supporting women who need to flee domestic abuse. Unfortunately, at times of crisis, the evidence shows an increase in gender-based violence in and out of the home. VWTH is here for women and children in our community needing support, a safety plan and a safe place away from violence and abuse.
Please join us in our efforts to support this vital service in our community: https://www.transitionhouse.net/donate-now/
