AFP Okanagan Workshop – Guy Mallabone (MA,CFRE) : Moves Management and Effective Solicitation for Tomorrow's Donors

Building a successful major gift program can be overwhelming, but trying to anticipate where tomorrow’s donors are looking and where to focus your energy for maximum return can be a bigger challenge. Guy doesn’t hold back when it comes to sharing what he considers is important from his 37 years in Fundraising. From the practical to the philosophical, from the urgent to the compelling. Hear one man’s opinion about what you should stay focused on in major gift fundraising. As a senior leader and practitioner, Guy will delve into the importance of building and using strong donor relationships to enhance your ability to raise major gifts, and we’ll unlock the practical techniques needed to really take those relationships to money – including major gift role play.

Learning outcomes:

This session will use adult learning techniques to maximize learning outcomes for participants:

  • understanding what the priorities should be to focus on for major gift fundraising;
  • understanding the key best-practice major gift theories that are of fundamental importance to success; and
  • understanding how to communicate the fundamentals of best practice to help build a culture of support within your organization.
  • Understanding how to use effective major gift solicitation techniques to maximize success.

Guy Mallabone is recognized internationally as one of the non-profit sector’s most thoughtful and inspiring leaders. Since 1980 he has been providing exceptional advice and service to clients in the non-profit sector, including universities, social service agencies, health care providers and others. He’s a recognized international expert in fund development and is engage in every aspect of fund raising and integrated fund development practice, including annual fund, major gift, and gift planning.
