Description

Afrifest showcases visual and performing arts, as well as the culture of people of African descent. Artists who participate in the festival are Diasporas from Nigeria, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Sudan, Gambia, Zambia, Togo, Congo, Uganda, Somalia, Eritrean, Ethiopia, Burundi, Sierra Leone, the Caribbean and African Nova Scotia Community. Their artistic works include visual arts, drumming, jazz, hip-hop, gospel, spoken-word and more. Performers for the 2017 AFRIFEST include Amadou Kienou and the Djeli Sira group, Dick Fils from Burkina Faso, Bobo musique, Remesha Drums from Burundi, Mapou Ginen, DRE-D, Carson Downey and lot more. This event is free to the public, we thank our sponsors, Heritage Canada, Atlantic Lottery, Province of Nova Scotia, Atlantica Hotel, Discount car rental, Labatt Breweries, Service Canada, Waterfront Development, HRM and others.
