About this event
Africa with the Masters Online is an opportunity to travel across the continent and meet its people, from the comfort of your home. Each week, you will discover one specific region of Africa and explore its history and cultural diversity. You will enjoy traditional songs, music and stories, learn about healing and spiritual traditions and practices, engage in traditional crafts, games or dances, and even interact with villagers in Africa! You will meet artists, elders and knowledge keepers who will proudly share their rich heritage with you.
Week 1: West Africa - Sept 27-Oct 3
Week 2: Central Africa - Oct 4-Oct 10
Week 3: Eastern Africa - Oct 11-Oct 17
Week 4: Southern Africa - Oct 18-Oct 24
Each week will be structured like this:
Day 01: Introduction. Learn about the history and cultural diversity of the week’s featured region.
Day 02: Performance & Education Day - Bilingual. Enjoy an interactive performance and learn from the artists.
Day 03: African Bedtime Stories for Children - Bilingual. One traditional story told in English, and one told in French.
Day 04: Rhythm Day. Chanting! Lyrics will be provided so you can sing along. Dance: learn a simple traditional routine.
Day 05: Game Night - for everyone and families. Traditional games, crafts and laughter!
Day 06: Day in the Village - live from Africa! Experience village life! Yes, we take you to Africa for one day, so you see what it’s like, and you interact with villagers. A day of friendship and community connection, in rhythm.
Day 07: Village Talks under the Baobab Tree. Elders and Knowledge Keepers discuss traditional knowledge, spirituality, and moral values.
