Event description

Description

Meetings can be wonderful ways to share knowledge and information, generate ideas and insight, make decisions and forge consensus. Unfortunately meetings often leave us feeling dissatisfied, either because we were not effective in influencing others or because the discussion bogged down or because there is a seemingly endless cycle of repetition.

The Age Friendly London Network is excited to welcome Janine Higgins to provide us with her one day course entitled “Using Assertiveness and Facilitation Skills for Better Meetings”. Janine will share with us her knowledge and expertise in participating and leading discussions that generate ideas and insight, make collective decisions and forge consensus.

Janine will lead us in a discussion around focused conversations, understanding the brain and natural thinking patterns and ‘I’ vs ‘you’ statements. This one day course will also utilize case studies to illustrate how to structure a focused conversation using the ORID model; the four levels of thinking that underlie focused conversation.

Registration is limited so please RSVP by Monday, August 27th to ensure you have a spot. Also, lunch will be provided both days so please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions.

Should you have any questions or wish to know more about this professional development opportunity, please connect with us. We look forward to learning with you and continuing to improve how we work together in the community.
