Event description

Description

The AFNN, in partnership with the Pelham Seniors Advisory Committee, is hosting a Niagara-wide forum at the newly-opened Meridian Community Centre in Fonthill.

This event will provide updates on developments in research on aging; explore the positive effects, for Niagara, of older adults of all income levels having access to a range of suitable housing options; and engage people in Age-Friendly action that creates the conditions for aging well in neighbourhoods across the region.

Participants will include older adults from across Niagara, newly-appointed municipal Seniors and Age-Friendly advisory committee members, recently-elected and returning municipal council members, as well as individuals whose focus is on lifespan wellness.

Speakers will include Dr. Parminder Raina, lead investigator for the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging; Sarah Webster, Knowledge Broker with the Ontario Age-Friendly Communities Outreach Program (and Niagara Connects Sr. KB); Arlene Etchen, Knowledge Mobilization, CMHC (who will share her ‘hot off the press’ work showing the relationship between social inclusion and housing options); and municipal Age-Friendly leaders in Thorold who are working to better understand ways to improve access to a range of housing options for older people in our community.
