Aging, Mobility and Brain Health
Thu, 3 November 2016, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM PDT
A healthy lifestyle is key to aging well and in place. Join researchers from the Centre for Hip Health & Mobility (CHHM) and the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health (DMCBH) for "Aging, Mobility and Brain Health," an interactive and informative evening where researchers in aging and mobility will speak about their current research and answer your questions. This event is part of Falls Prevention Week.
Moderated by Dr. Brianne Kent, a postdoctoral fellow and MSFHR trainee.
Falls Prevention Week
Falls are the leading cause of injury for seniors. One in three British Columbians over the age of 65 will fall once every year, and falls are the main reason why older adults lose their independence. Many falls can be prevented, and there are many resources available to help to keep seniors injury-free.
Centre for Hip Health & Mobility
The Centre for Hip Health and Mobility is a University of British Columbia affiliated, internationally recognized research centre focused on developing novel strategies that promote physically active choices that positively influence mobility. Mobility in turn influences the health of our bones, our joints, our muscles, our hearts, our brains and many other systems in our bodies at every age. Our interdisciplinary team of researchers, clinicians, students, staff and community partners, work together to implement, evaluate and disseminate solutions to some of our health care system’s most pressing and expensive problems.
Active Aging BC
Active Aging BC is a suite of evidenced-based, province-wide initiatives that provide an upstream solution to maintain the health, mobility, and social connectedness of BC’s aging population.
