A Change Maker’s Path through Uncertainty: Valuing the Past and Expanding the Future
For managers of change, this is the best of times and the worst of times. We stand at a crossroads. Approaches of the past are needed more than ever, but some changes move faster than our methods do. Like you, I deal with clients who are unhinged and need stability. Others need to move and cannot, and still others have no idea what might be next for them. I am a researcher, consultant, and leader of an international network of innovative scholar/practitioners. We use principles and practices from complexity science to move toward our vision where:
People everywhere thrive because we see patterns clearly, seek to understand, and act with courage to transform turbulence and uncertainty into possibility for all.
In this session, I will share how we understand this visionary challenge and how my change-maker’s journey has prepared me and my community for the Age of Uncertainty.
Glenda Eoyang works with public and private organizations to help them thrive in the face of overwhelming complexity and uncertainty. She is a pioneer in the applications of complexity science to human systems, and she founded the field of human systems dynamics (HSD) in 2001. Through Human Systems Dynamics Institute, she leads a global network of of over 800 scholar-practitioners. They apply HSD to wicked problems ranging from early childhood education to violent extremism, public health, and corporate futuring and strategy.
