Event description

What IS the Alberta Herb Gathering?

The Alberta Herba Gathering is a weekend dedicated to connecting with the plant world. If you are a plant enthusiast, herb enthusiast, DIY'er, bush crafter, forager, grower, homesteader, aspiring herb gardener, medicine maker, or armchair admirer, this weekend is for you.

Basically-if you have any kind of interest in medicinal & traditional cultural uses of plants, the Alberta Herb Gathering welcomes you!

We will have talks, workshops & plant walks by various local herbalists & notorious North American herbal veterans. We have topics for those new to the plant world as well as more advanced & clinical options for the more intermediate & advanced herbalists.

It is a deeply nourishing weekend for building connections with the plants & our community of people passionate about medicinal plants in AB.

Visit to see the workshops each presenter is offering.

Weekend Schedule:

With all these amazing offerings, the only problem you are going to have during the weekend is: How do I choose which workshops to take?

Friday evening we open with ceremony and gather for a talk by one our esteemed herbalists. Saturday is a full day! You can take in up to 5 of the 15 workshops or plant walks offered during the day: two in the morning and three in the afternoon.

Come Saturday night, we have some fun! Join us for another group presentation-then perhaps a little bonfire, maybe some music, getting to know each other & reconnecting with friends from afar! Take some time to peruse the vendors' offerings & our guest herbalists will also be available to sell and sign their books for you throughout the weekend.

Sunday is an easier day--you only have to choose 3 workshops out of 9. At two o'clock Sunday afternoon we celebrate our weekend with a closing ceremony. And you return home, refreshed, renewed and inspired.

The full weekend workshop schedule can be found at

What does my weekend registration include?

Your weekend registration includes all meals (6-there will be gluten & dairy free & vegan options), beverages, your choice of 8 out of 24 workshops/plant walks AND 2 evening presentations (**for a total of 10 workshops**), & accomodations--2 nights of tenting (or van camping with no hookups is also an option!). We value the peace that a weekend in nature brings, so please leave generators at home.

Van camping is also an option at n/c in the vehicle parking lot (no-hook ups).

You could also arrange your own accomodation to stay nearby in Pigeon lake, but the ticket price remains the same.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Rundle's Mission is right near Pigeon Lake & backs onto 220 acres of Nature Conservancy land. It is accessible by vehicle. Can my partner come for the weekend to take care of the kids, but not attend the workshops? Are kids welcome?

Unfortunately, due to fire regulations at our venue, we have a maximum total capacity of people onsite for the weekend, & therefore unable to accomodate more people than we've accounted for through ticket sales. Everyone attending needs to purchase a ticket or be a volunteer.

There will be no childcare provided, so please leave little ones at home. Minors over the age of 15 are welcome to attend with a parent or guardian (registration required for both).

Thank you so much for your understanding!

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

What's the refund policy?

No refunds.

You are welcome to sell or give away your registration-- just let us know the name of the person who is coming in your place. There is no fee to transfer it to an alternate attendee.

The Alberta Herb Gathering (AHG) was seeded in 2010 by two Alberta Herbalists, Abrah Arneson and Robert Rogers, on a long, hot drive, while returning home after The Montana Herb Gathering.

As two people who work daily with plant medicine, they decided the AHG would be a weekend of gratitude. The Alberta Herb Gathering would be a time for people to satisfy their thirst for connection to and knowledge about the natural world. It would be a weekend to come together to learn and share their understanding of the medicine plants offer freely.

In 2011, the First Alberta Herb Gathering bloomed-it was a sold out event & continues to be! Robert & Abrah passed the reins over to the Alberta Herbalist's Association in 2017 & we are very much looking forward to the long awaited 2018 event!
