Join us to learn, grow and share at the 3rd annual Indigenous Tourism Alberta Summit, a two-day gathering of over 300 Indigenous tourism operators and supporters sharing opportunities to build, grow and succeed as Indigenous businesses. Indigenous Tourism Alberta has organized a two-days of speakers, panels, and group discussions to help you discover pathways to success in Indigenous tourism, as a community or as an independent entrepreneur. Enjoy coming together with others interested in or actively operating in Alberta’s rapidly growing Indigenous tourism industry. You will learn that significant economic opportunities can be found while respectfully sharing Indigenous cultural experiences.

Friday November 26:

AITS ends on another full day of programming, speakers, panels and group discussions.

Key Note Speakers include:

Brigette Lacquette: is a Canadian ice hockey player, currently playing for the Calgary section of the PWHPA and the Canadian national team, playing defence. She participated at the 2015 IIHF Women's World Championship. In 2018, Lacquette became the first First Nations woman to play for the Canadian women's Olympic hockey team.

Teara Fraser: Founder and chief executive of the first Indigenous-woman-owned airline Iskwew Air.

David Goldstein: David is thre CEO Travel Alberta from Gusto Worldwide Media, where he served as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to that, he spent a decade at the forefront of several important initiatives driving Canada’s tourism sector forward, first as President and CEO of the Tourism Industry Association of Canada before joining Destination Canada, the Government of Canada’s marketing and research organization, as President and CEO. During that time, David led the development of the Federal Tourism Strategy, changes in aviation and visa policy, increased investments in global marketing, and modernizing an aligned strategy to develop the Global Team Canada strategy, NorthStar 22.

Keith Henry: Mr. Henry has become an international Aboriginal cultural tourism leader receiving Aboriginal/Indigenous recognition as the former CEO for Aboriginal Tourism Association of British Columbia (AtBC). In April 2014 the inaugural World Indigenous Tourism Alliance award recognized the work of AtBC and Mr. Henry’s leadership. Mr. Henry has been spearheading the growth of authentic Aboriginal tourism in Canada as he worked to redevelop the national Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada as elected chair when this organization incorporated in April 2015. In October 2015 Mr. Henry took the full time role as the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada’s CEO.

Indigenous Tourism Alberta (ITA) is a non-profit Indigenous organization devoted to help grow and promote authentic, sustainable and culturally rich Indigenous tourism experiences we want to share with the world.

Indigenous Tourism Alberta (ITA) encourages and promotes authentic Indigenous tourism that showcases the unique and immersive experiences offered by its members throughout our four regions; North, Central and Southern Alberta as well as the Rockies. ITA’s goal is to enhance economic viability, further engage and support our Indigenous peoples and nurture these partnerships throughout the province by sharing our stories, culture and experiences with a global audience.
