"Opportunities to Provide Dramatically Improved Care"

Following the 2018 'sold out' event, renowned guest speaker Dr. Jeff Harries is returning to deliver a second CME educational session on Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD).

A one-hour sessional is available to physician members.

Participation in this 2-hour seminar will help build competence in the following:

  • Using early identification and intervention in practice in order to reduce alcohol-related harms and alcohol use disorder
  • Recognizing the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal, assessing the risk of severe complications (i.e., seizures, delirium tremens), and triaging patients to appropriate care pathways for alcohol withdrawal management.
  • Selecting appropriate pharmacological and psychosocial treatment options for alcohol use disorder based on safety and effectiveness evidence, as well as individual patient needs, circumstances and preferences
  • Understanding the unique pharmacology of the treatment options, and the comparative efficacy and safety of these options
  • Recognizing and addressing barriers to screening and prescribing pharmacotherapy in practice
  • Participating effectively in collaborative models of care, and adhering to the new guidelines for the clinical management of alcohol use disorder

This event is CME accredited for 2.0 MOC Section 1 and for up to 2.0 Mainpro+ credits though UBC CPD. Each clinician should claim only those credits actually spent in the activity.
