Born in Saigon in 1968, Kim Thúy left Vietnam as boat people at the age of ten and settled with her family in Quebec. Graduate in translation and law, the author has worked as a seamstress, performer, lawyer, restaurant owner and food and television columnist. She lives in Montreal and is dedicated to writing.

His first book, Ru, published in 2009 at Libre Expression, was an instant success. Best seller in Quebec and France and translated in more than Twenty-five languages, Ru has also won numerous literary awards, including the prestigious 2010 Governor General of Canada Award, the 2010 RTL-Lire Grand Prix at the Paris Book Fair, the 2011 Premio Mondello Award for Multiculturality, the 2010 Montreal Book Fair Public's Award and Literary Grand Prix Archambault 2011.

After twenty-five countries and seven literary awards, Kim Thúy remains the same, faithful lover of words.
