Microsoft touched 75 million active users and posted revenue in the region of 35 million during the pandemic. Zoom earlier claimed it had reached 300 million active users, a claim which it rolled back a few days after. Yet the big picture is glaring. Although some sectors have slashed forecasts, others have thrived.

Slack Technologies said it added 9,000 new paid customers, an increase of 80% compared to the previous quarter, between February 1 and March 25. Not only are they adding more people, users are becoming chattier: "The number of messages sent per user per day increased by an average of 20% globally," Slack said in a press release.(CNN Business).

Activision Blizzard, Nintendo, Electronic Arts to name a few are thriving.

Despite the emergency caused by the current outbreak, many industries and companies are still growing and hiring currently. These are known as the core industries. most of them are tech industries. But the effects of their continuous growth has ripple effects into other industries as well. Companies like Microsoft, Zoom is thriving during this period to enable remote work being done. Support agencies and other shoulder businesses that support these ventures will also be pretty comfortable during this period.

If you are contemplating a career move, this is the time to take a step back and equip yourself with the right tools to advance your career.
