Event description

September 8 - 13, 2019 Lake O’Hara / Elizabeth Parker Hut & Wiwaxy Cabin

Booking information and deadlines

The club has reserved every available space, that’s twenty-four (24) spaces in Elizabeth Parker hut and Wiwaxy cabin for the nights of Sept 8 to Sept 12 inclusive, leaving on Sept 13. Huts are $35 per night for adults and $17.50 per night for kids 16 and under. We have spaces on the 8:30 am and 10:30 am bus into the hut on Sunday Sept 8. Bus fee is $14.70 for adults, kids $7.35. You will also need a wilderness pass - $9.80 per person per night for people over 16 years of age. They have eliminated the annual adult passes.

Please note that we may have a high demand for this trip, although we have a few additional spaces this year.

Your next steps

Here is the process we will use to award spaces on the trip.

  1. Send an email to Marilyn McLaren at no later than June 20, 2019 to state your interest and commitment to joining the trip.

  2. Parent(s) and minor age children will be treated as a group. All other interested members must apply as individuals.

  3. By June 6, applicants will be told whether we received more demand than spaces.

  4. If we have more than 24 people responding by June 5, within one week of that date, three members of the ACC Manitoba Executive will meet, put those names into a hat, and draw 24 names.

  5. The members whose names were in the hat will be notified immediately after the draw and successful members will have until June 19 to provide an e-transfer for the full amount.

  6. If we have 24 or fewer people interested, you, too will have until June 19 to provide payment for the full amount.

  7. Unsuccessful members will have first choice to take any cancellations. If necessary, a similar draw will take place. Any remaining spaces will be awarded on first come, first booked basis.

Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Participants under the age of 18 must have the waiver signed by their legal guardian.

The waiver must be signed at the meeting place so the trip leader can witness the signature of the legal guardian

Definition of "Legal Guardian" – A biological parent is typically the legal guardian of a person under the age of 18. A person who is not a parent cannot be the child's guardian because someone puts it into an agreement, unless that person has been officially appointed by court order or in a Will.

Children under the age of 16 must also be accompanied by a parent who will be responsible for the child at all times.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Each person or family group is responsible for their own transportation planning, accommodation planning before or after the hut booking, meal planning and equipment.

Within one month of the trip the club will hold a Trip Meeting to facilitate any carpooling or planning around objectives.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

You can find all the information about the trip leader at the bottom of the event page.

Save the environment ;) No need to bring your ticket with you, as the trip leader will be making contact with you.
