About this event
You know when you wake up in the morning and you're like "How do Linux installer work?" Or when you wake up in the middle of the night convinced it's little Tux penguins running the show?
Time to rob you all wonder and joy about how Linux works! In this workshop we'll be talking about Arch-Linux and how it's one of the best methods to get super comfortable with the CLI
We'll talk about:
- Hardware such as BIOS/UEFI pros and cons
- Importance of setting the system clock (timedatectl)
- Manually partitioning and formating disk partitions
- Mount filesystems and creating swap partitions
- Pacman package manager, updating repositories using Reflector
- Difference between GNU and "Linux"
- Generating UUID(genfstab)
- Moving root to the new filesystem
- Setting the timezone and syncing the system-clock
- Installing a GUI
After we create our own Arch-Linux install we will use it to solve some CTF-style Crypto and Stego challenges on our machines!
