L.I.G.H.T. is an acronym for Love, Integrity, Guidance, Humanity, and Trust, which was developed by one of our co-founders, Carolina Miranda while studying female leadership during her Masters of Education. Each one of our evenings uses one of these words as an overarching theme for the stories being told, except for Love. We believe that Love is what happens in the sharing and listening of the LIGHT Stories. It’s undeniable that our world is in much need of light, so we decided to bring it to you in this format.
LIGHT Stories: “Integrity”
Our Integrity LIGHT Stories expose women’s emotional resiliency, and what it means to feel whole, to stay whole. One of the most powerful quotes to come out of our first year, was by Métis artist Heather Majaury: “How can I possibly talk about integrity and resiliency, without talking about vulnerability and brokenness?” These stories are about the struggles that come with being a woman in society: single motherhood, the emotional roller coaster of custody fights, separations and divorces, and how each one of these women has managed to rise above.
We are storytellers, artists, daughters, sisters, mothers, and grandmothers coming together. Men are also always welcome at our events. We respect anyone who cares to listen to our stories, because they are also in essence, your story.
