Description

Please note: There is a two-step registration process. After registering on eventbrite, please text (780-298-6664) or email (freeschoolteam@gmail.com) the event planner, Moni, to confirm that you will be joining us. If you can no longer make the event, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can offer your space to someone else.

When you register for this event, your email will automatically be added to the River Valley Free School mailing list. You can email us to opt-out or unsubscribe later if you choose.

Acrylic paints are among the most versatile media. Thick patches of paint can be applied similar to oil painting, or water can be added to resemble watercolour. Acrylics can be applied to different surfaces and are often used in mix-media art. Our instructor, Moji, will first lead us through drawing our subject on the canvas. We will then explore colour theory and learn how to mix colours, which is crucial to a good painting. For the subjects, we will set up some still life that you can tailor to your liking. By the end of the class you will have created your own painting to take home!

What to bring:
- Your own brushes: Flat or Bright #14, Filbert #8, Round #4 and #1
- Your own palette knife
- Your own canvas (12x16" or 16x20"). If you do not have canvas, there will be some extras that you can buy at the event for around $4
- Pencil and eraser

If you do not have your own palette knife or brushes, please email freeschoolteam@gmail.com to see if we have extras.

There is a $5 materials fee for the paints, and you can pay at the event. Any extra donations towards the River Valley Free School are greatly appreciated.
