Please join us on Thursday, February 27th for our first luncheon of the year. Randy Lines, our past Chapter Chair, will be giving us an introduction to Threat Risk Assessments (TRAs):

Rather than a box that has to be ticked off for compliance, a TRA is meant to align Risk with Risk Tolerance. The presentation will include topics including:

  1. What Assets, Threats, and Vulnerabilities are and how they influence Risk
  2. How bringing fundamental TRA concepts into every security discussion will help your organizations’ bottom line
  3. How sometimes a “do nothing” approach to a security issue is defendable
  4. Do I need always need expensive consultants to do the report? (Spoiler alert… You don’t)
  5. Can I have effective security without a TRA? (Spoiler alert… not unless you are very lucky)
  6. How a formal understanding of the TRA process can help integrators, facility managers, consultants, and manufacturers share a common language

Randy Lines, BSc. EE, Dipl.T (Civil), CPP holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering, a Degree in Electrical Engineering, and has a CPP accreditation through ASIS. He has had a diverse career including 24 years in the RCMP where he conducted hundreds of Threat Risk Assessments for operations (offensive and defensive) in support of Law Enforcement. Since 2015, he has worked in private industry as a security consultant. He is very active in our Pacific Chapter and has served as Secretary, Vice-Chair, and Chapter Chair in addition to facilitating annual CPP reviews.
