Presenter: Simon Tomkins, Employment Standards

Do you have questions about paying your employees? Want to learn more about employment laws? This session will cover the basics of overtime, vacation time and pay, general holidays, protected leaves and terminating employment.

Attendees will learn the following:

1. The basics to paying your employees
2. How to terminate employment
3. Recent changes to the Employment Standards Code and Regulation

Simon Tomkins brings over 15 years of experience in government regulatory services, including issuing licenses for the Liquor and Gaming Authority, presenting immigration, refugee and human rights appeals for the United Kingdom Border Agency and working on work permit and Highly Skilled Migrant programs. As a result, he has a diverse perspective that he applies as an Employment Standards Officer. Simon joined the Employment Standards Branch in 2014, where he investigates wage complaints and educates the public on their rights and responsibilities under employment standards.
