ABOUT THE PERFORMER
Recently named the 2018 winner of the “People’s Choice Award” in the AMEF Student Recognition Award Program, Russian born pianist Anastasia Kulikova first touched the piano at the age of 4. Her musical career began in 2006, when at the age of 8, Anastasia took first place at the international piano competition “Citta Di Pesaro” in Italy. Just a year later, she participated in “Hopes, Talents, Masters”, an international youth music festival-competition in Bulgaria where she was awarded first place.
In 2008, Anastasia moved to Calgary, Alberta from where she continued her music studies with Dmitry Nesterov at the Mount Royal University Conservatory of Music. Since then, Anastasia has competed annually to great success at the Calgary Kiwanis Music Festival, Calgary Concerto Competition and the Canadian Music Competition in which she was awarded first place with a mark of 95% in 2015. Aside from developing her career as a soloist, Anastasia is also an active chamber musician and was awarded second place as a part of “Two Third Ninth Trio” at the National Music Festival in 2015. Throughout her time in Canada, Anastasia has received many scholarships for her outstanding performance including the prestigious Catherine M. Gunn Memorial Principal Scholarship at the Calgary Performing Arts Festival, granted to the best pianist participating in the festival. In 2014, Anastasia was selected as the youngest of the 3 participants in Calgary Pro Musica’s Youth Artist Development Program which focuses on career development as well as public outreach at local elementary schools.
The past few summers, Anastasia has had the privilege to study with world-renowned professors such as Jacques Rouvier, Pavel Gililov, Ronan O’Hora and Dang Thai Son, and has had the opportunities to perform in venues across Russia, Canada, Italy, France and Austria.
Named a 2018 University of Toronto Scholar, Anastasia is currently a scholarship student in her final year of the Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance Program, studying under the tutelage of Marietta Orlov. She is also a private teacher for Neighbour Note and in 2018 taught a beginner piano class at TSSP Summer Music and Arts Camp. Her ultimate goal is to be able to share her love for music with others though volunteering, teaching and performing.
