Event description
In this workshop participants will be learning how to create an animal teapot using a solid to hollow sculpture pottery technique.

About this Event

TWO AND A HALF DAY WORKSHOPS | $195.00 (Two 6 hour classes on October 5th and 6th from 9:00am- 4:00pm and one 3 hour class on October 19th from 9:00am - 12:pm)

In this workshop Visiting Artist Jessica Sallay-Carrington will teach participants how to build an animal teapot using the techniques of building a solid form and then hollowing it afterwards. This is the technique Jessica has used to build all of their sculptures, this technique can be applied to teapots or sculptures of any size creating all kinds of unique shapes. On the first and second day Jessica will give a demonstration then participants will begin building their unique animal forms. Jessica will also show how they construct the animal faces, including details of the eyes, antlers, snouts and anything else you can think of!

On the third day everyone will hollow out their teapots, and add any last final details. On this day we will be adding the glaze to bring out pieces to life.

This is a really fun way to build a sculpture that you can interact with, it has a function in the home and it was made by you! Any animal of your choice can brew your tea for you and be the centre piece in your next tea party.

MATERIAL COST: $35.00 to be paid to the instructor on the day of the workshop.
