About this event
2022 recipient of Rosemary Brown Award for Women
Ms. Adrienne Montani, a lifelong advocate for the rights of children and youth in BC, is the Executive Director of First Call Child and Youth Advocacy Society, where she has worked for over 20 years. She served as a school trustee for the Vancouver School Board and as the chair between 2002 and 2005. During her term as the Child and Youth Advocate for the City of Vancouver she helped lift up the voices of young people and raised awareness of the gaps in services for many marginalized children and youth and their families.
With long standing commitment to cross-cultural awareness, human rights and recognition of the rights of Indigenous peoples, Adrienne has called for poverty eradication, adequate shelter and services to end homelessness. Her advocacy for children with special needs, women with inadequate child care support, and immigrant and refugee families experiencing discrimination, are all well known. She has been recognized by many organizations for the contributions she has made in our communities.
Adrienne Montani will be honoured with the Rosemary Brown Award for Women on Nov 17, 2022 at 6 pm at the Centre for Dialogue at Simon Fraser University, room 320 at 580 West Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC (enter via Seymour Street courtyard entrance)
The Rosemary Brown Award for Women is given out annually by a committee comprised of representatives from the United Nations Association in Canada (Vancouver branch), Congress of Black Women Foundation, BC Association of Social Workers, Society for Children and Youth of BC, and University Women’s Club of Vancouver.
