Description

Antian Jiang - The youngest recipient of Licentiate Diploma performance with distinction in the history of RCM examinations.

11-year-old pianist Antian Jiang is the youngest candidate in the history of RCM examinations to have earned the Licentiate Diploma in piano performance with Distinction. She is also the second youngest in RCM history to have earned the ARCT - also with Distinction.

Antian was recently crowned as the Grand Champion of the 23rd Markham Music Festival; she was also the youngest superstar in the history of this prestigious Festival to be awarded. In late 2017, Antian won her age group in the Crescendo International Piano Competition. She was awarded a senior scholarship and was featured in the winners' concert in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. During her stay in New York, Antian was invited to perform in the master class at the Steinway Factory with famed Curtis Institute Professor Meng-Chie Liu.

For the past three years, Antian has enjoyed much success in various music festivals at the local, provincial and national levels in Canada. She is a past National Finalist for the CMC, as well as the winner of the senior concerto class at the 2017 OMFA Provincial Finals. She has won several thousand dollars in scholarships from local music festivals and has been a regular performer in numerous festival and charity galas throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

Besides her piano studies, Antian enjoys math, reading, swimming, skiing, and dancing. In the Canadian Math Kangaroo Contest 2018, Antian was awarded Second Place in GTA Region and Third Place in Canada. She is also the winner of the National Gold Medal and GTA excellence in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 Canadian Math Kangaroo Contests.

Antian's upcoming engagements include her solo recital debut at Steinway Piano Gallery of Toronto in May and July 2018, as well as an appearance at the Richmond Hill Performing Arts Centre in a 'Piano Legacy Concert' in conjunction with the 2018 International Musical Arts Festival. She will make her orchestral debut during the 2018/2019 season under the baton of Maestro Kerry Stratton. She studies with Dr. Michael Esch, who was awarded a Steinway Top Teacher Award from Steinway & Sons New York in 2017 and 2016.
