To learn more, read below:

It is evident that working with anxiety requires Courage.

And this courage is generally born from internalizing the support we get from our relationships with significant others. Especially our early relationships.

But what happens when our first relationships in the world are not sufficiently supportive? Or our caregivers perhaps not even competent?

The result, then, is a lack of confidence. And this soon translates into anxiety at dealing with parts of the world.

As such, most anxieties reflect long-held and deeply-entrenched assumptions and beliefs. These beliefs settled in our minds a long long time ago, when as children, we had to adapt to function in a world we were not yet equipped to deal with effectively.

At first these assumptions and beliefs guided our behaviour fairly well, and helped us survive our childhoods. We were therefore well adapted to the original environment in which they developed.

But as we gradually moved out of that original environment, those sets of beliefs and assumptions gradually led us to become less adapted to environments that were less like our upbringing-environment.

We were now maladapted.

This often manifested itself as anxiety, depression and other forms of suffering.

Inside our minds, are parts that contain old wounds and unmet needs.

These parts are manifestations of our younger selves.

In accessing and healing these wounds we can re-parent ourselves, that is - meet our unmet needs, and regain the peace, confidence and courage necessary to live in the world without unnecessary suffering.

In this workshop you will learn about:

  • A Model Explaining how certain Early Psychological Adaptations lead to Anxiety as a Result of Unmet Childhood Needs
  • The difference between Fear and Anxiety
  • How to Establish Communication with the Parts of Your Mind that hold Anxiety
  • How to Begin the Journey of Healing Anxiety
  • How to Redefine your Sense of Self in Terms of the Things You Can Control
  • Learn About Further Resources including Self-help and Support Groups

Note: Our psychoeducational seminars, workshops, groups and individual counselling services are eligible for reimbursement through most extended health insurance benefit plans.
