Attention Appetite to Play Graduates

Continue learning about healthy eating and physical activity in the early years by joining the Appetite to Play online community of practice.

Obtain two (2) hours of professional development credits!

Appetite to Play is collaborating with BCcampus and the Early Years Professional Development Web Portal (earlyyearsbc.ca) to pilot an online community of practice from January 14 to February 8, 2019.

What is a Community of Practice?

A community of practice is a group of people who share a concern or passion for something they do, and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly.

What is the Appetite to Play Online Community of Practice?

If you have taken the Appetite to Play in-person workshop, online e-learning module(s), or virtual workshop, we invite you to take part in a four-week pilot online community of practice to further build your skills and knowledge in healthy eating and physical activity in the early years! Members will participate in an online forum where you can further learn, discuss and share ideas on healthy eating, food literacy, physical activity, and physical literacy for the 0-5 years age group with other early years providers in B.C. Some of our regional trainers will be facilitators on the online community of practice, and our master trainers will be participating as well.

You can participate in the online community of practice at any time of the day by asking and answering questions in the online discussions through comments, pictures and videos.

Do I get professional development credits for participating?

Yes, if you participate in the Appetite to Play community of practice for the entire duration of the pilot (January 14 to February 8), and make at least two posts per week, you will earn up to 2 hours of professional development credits.

The expectation is that members of the online community of practice spend approximately 30 minutes per week reading fellow community members’ posts, replying to questions, and posing your own questions related to healthy eating and physical activity in the early years.

You will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the pilot community of practice.

Do I need to login and participate at a particular time of the day?

No, you do not have to login and participate at any particular time or date.

Do I have to pay to register?

No, this pilot online community of practice is free.

Where can I ask questions?

Email atpinfo@cw.bc.ca or call 604-877-6441 and we can answer any questions you have.
