A yoga class designed for the winter sports enthusiasts! Whether you are a skier, snowboarder, Nordic skier, or enjoy your winter play time on snowshoes or skates! This class will prep your body for the upcoming season and help boost your performance!
In our 6 week series we will explore alignment and body mechanics as it pertains to winter sports. We will focus on lengthening and strengthening the muscle groups that support our activity. Each week we will explore weight distribution and balance, taking the time to learn what to do when only one side of the body seems to be active more than the other. Experience and practice yoga to help your low back, hips and shoulders maintain their potential and health throughout the winter season!
After a day on the hill you will be able to recreate the stretches and alleviate any aches that accompany the day of play. We will learn breathing techniques that truly heat the body from the inside out (for those extra crisp days!).
This class series helps bring awareness to movement so we can continue to enjoy the crystalline beauty of winter all season long, injury free!

What can students expect from a class and this series?
A comfortable, non-judgemental environment and a small class size to facilitate special attention and care to each individual. Active and passive stretches that are both lengthtening and strengthening, with each class focusing on a new group of mucles and area of the body. Students will learn to identify movement and postural habits and begin to understand why certain patterns will lead to pain and injury.
How is body mechanics Yoga different from other yoga classes?
It teaches your own unique individual boundairies. This series allows the time and instruction to go into your physical form and experience which parts of your body are being utilized for different movements. Think of movement as a conversation from the nervous system to the muscles, joints, and bones. Body Mechanics Yoga aims to optimize this communication and start new forms of it with muscles and body parts that have yet to reach their full potential.
What is a result that can be felt from participating in the series?
Curiosity, desire, knowledge, and ability to create new habits in your movements. Body Mechanics Yoga will help you practice safe and sustainable movement in all your activities. You will be able to identify which of your current habits have contributed to trouble spots na d prevent injury with mindful movement. The ability to connect to your body moment by moment, shifting your awareness to not only to how you move in your everyday life, but improving with ease.
