Event Details

Saturday December 22, 2012 -  The Dublin Messiah

Glenn Gould Studio, CBC Broadcast Centre

It is requested the Favour of the Ladies not to come with Hoops this Day to the Musick-Hall in Fishamble Street. The Gentlemen are desired to come without their swords. Such was the request on April 13th, 1742 for the performance of Mr. Handel’s new Sacred Grand Oratorio, the Messiah. After considerable public reaction last year, Aradia is happy to repeat its reconstruction of this first performance. Please leave your swords at home!

Claire de Sévigné, soprano

Marion Newman, Mezzo-soprano

David Menzies, tenor

Peter Mc Gillivray, baritone

Michael Fedyshyn, trumpet

Glenn Gould Studio is easily accessible by public transit. Aradia Ensemble

The Aradia Ensemble has a unique sound and an individual take on baroque and classical music. Aradia is a vocal and instrumental ensemble that performs in Toronto and internationally under the leadership of the energetic Irish Music Director, Kevin Mallon.  Both the intimate nature of Aradia’s baroque music performances and the conductor’s accessible approach to engaging audiences lend themselves to exploring new concert venues.

Aradia plays on period instruments, and varies the  concert format to fit the occasion and music. The range of projects is diverse - from a single string group and harpsichord, with Kevin leading from the violin, to larger projects with full orchestra and choir. Aradia has performed many opera projects and has made some 50 CDs for Naxos Records.
