The Applied Research Centre for Natural Products and Medical Cannabis invites you to join us for an informative session to help you understand the Cannabis Regulations in Canada.

8:30- Natasha Perkins,Senior Manager at MNP Consulting Services Group, and Professor at Loyalist College, CSGS Program.

Natasha Perkins is a management consultant of 8+ years and a faculty member of Loyalist College’s Cannabis Applied Sciences Program. She is currently a Senior Manager within MNP’s consulting practice based in Regina. Prior to rejoining the Regina team Natasha was based out of the Toronto office where she played a lead role in the Food and Beverage niche and was one of the founding members of the firm’s National Cannabis Practice. In addition to consulting to private and public entities within the cannabis sector, she has firsthand private industry experience and has held executive roles in the food and cannabis space. Natasha has a deep understanding of the Canadian cannabis industry and stays apprised of the evolving international business trends. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing and Management from the University of Regina.

Natasha will provide an overview of Canada’s political and legislative processes as they relate to the cannabis industry as well as regulatory requirements of operating a business, or working, within the legal cannabis sector in Canada.

9:45- Dr. Kari Kramp, Scientific Manager, the Applied Research Centre for Natural Products and Medical Cannabis.

As Scientific Manager of the Applied Research Centre for Natural Products and Medical Cannabis (ARC), Dr. Kari Kramp has led applied research and industry-driven collaborations on commercially relevant natural products at Loyalist College for the past 15 years. Kari has engaged subject-specific experts, students and industry collaborators. She is contributing to the development of an innovation hub for cannabis, increasing sector access to expertise, technology, education and training. In January 2017, the ARC received its licence from Health Canada to conduct applied research on cannabis. In September 2018, Loyalist launched Canada’s first Cannabis Applied Science post-graduate certificate program. And in 2018 the ARC received NSERC funding to become a Technology Access Centre (TAC).

Kari will discuss the ARCs capabilities and capacity to work with industry within the Cannabis Regulations and parameters of our current licenses.
