About this event
Learn about what triggers an archaeological assessment, how to assess a property's history before a dig, how to determine the size and significance of a site, and how Indigenous groups are consulted throughout the process. Presented in collaboration with ASI, one of the largest archaeological and cultural heritage consulting firms in Ontario.
This program is for adults but teens are welcome. Priority will be given to valid RHPL card holders.
This program will be hosted on Zoom.
About our speakers:
Cassandra Hamilton is a Project Manager at ASI Heritage Services, where she works on the mitigative excavation of Indigenous archaeological sites. She holds Undergraduate and Graduate degrees in Archaeology focusing in Archaeozoology, and has done excavations in Ontario, Portugal, Montenegro, and France. Cassandra has been working in the field of cultural resource management since 2012, and has worked as a field technician, report writer, analyst, and field school instructor.
Eliza Brandy is a Project Manager at ASI Heritage Services managing Stage 1 archaeological assessments that are required under the Environmental Assessment Act. Eliza holds Undergraduate and Graduate degrees in Archaeology, with a Masters thesis on the Zooarchaeology of a 19th Century Labrador Inuit site, and they have been working in the field of cultural resource management since 2013, beginning as a field technician, report writer, artifact and faunal analyst, and collections assistant.

Please note that all participants must register for this program in advance. Do not share the program link or password among friends and family. You can, however, direct them to the registration page.
