This course will cover an overview of architecture in Ontario, including both the natural and built environments, with a view to filmmaking requirements. A general history of architecture, including architectural movements, will be examined, looking at styles such as Victorian, Art Deco, Richardsonian, and more. From a filmmaking perspective, the course will also cover Toronto’s similarities to cities such as Chicago, New York, Boston, and London, as well as understanding what the Director and Production Designer would like to see and how to meet their needs.
