Come and join us for a morning spent on getting up to speed on what's happening in the world of Social Media, how we can make sure our kids are safe while online and discovering some wonderful learning tools for your kids.

First 200 registered families will receive an awesome SWAG Bag!

Everyone who registers by March 31st will have their name entered into a draw for a special “Social Media Themed” Gift Bag filled with an I-Tunes card and other cool stuff! (You must be in attendance to receive the gift bag)

Door Prizes include: CHROME BOOK, I-Tunes Gift Cards, Jungle Oasis Passes and a whole lot more! (All prizes will be drawn at the end of the morning)

Keynote Speaker

In our main session, we will hear from CHRIS VOLLUM, an Oakville-based parent, who is a widely-recognized educator on numerous social platforms including Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Tumblr, Snapchat and Periscope. His focus will be on:

  1. Learning How To Use or Create A Social Media Account (Bring Your Own Device)
  2. How Social Media plays a critical role in student anxiety, self-worth & wellness.
  3. Used skillfully, Social Media can drive positive influence & create opportunity.

Two seminar sessions will include:

  1. Chris Vollum, delving deeper into how Social Media drives positive influence and creates oppotunity.
  2. Constable Scott Davis, Community Services & Media Relations Officer from the Orangeville Police, who will focus specifically on INTERNET SAFETY.
  3. Michelle Campbell, Supervisor, Library & Media services for the UGDSB, who helped create the Virtual Learning Commons (UG2GO) which provides 24/7 acess to quality digital resources to all Upper Grand students and staff. She will help parents navigate their way through UG2GO as a way of discovering the unlimited amount of learning resources available to their children both at school and at home.

DOOR PRIZES: Chrome Book, I-Tunes Cards, Jungle Oasis Passes, Plus a whole lot more!

What the morning will look like:

8:30 - 9:00 a.m. - Refreshements, pick up resource package (1 per family)

9:00 - 10:00 a.m. - KEYNOTE SPEAKER: CHRIS VOLLUM

10:00 - 10:10 a.m. - Refreshment Break

10:10 - 11:00 a.m. - SEMINAR SESSION 1
