Description

Thaat is usually the first composition performed in a traditional Kathak. Thaat - means Andaaz or the Style of Standing in various poses. Learn both Thaat and Upaj (the art of improvisation) highly stylized moves playing with rhythm and ending with statuesque poses inspired by Gurus Padmabhushan Kumudini Lakhia and Late Pandita Rohini Bhate.

$100 for 2 days - classes will build on each other so it is recommended you attend both sessions to get the maximum benefit.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

This class is open to professional and pre-professional dancers 18+ (if you are under 18 and interested please contact us to discuss).

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The Citadel is easily accessible via TTC (take the Dundas Streetcar East from Yonge and get off at Parliament or take the 65 Parliament bus south from Castle Frank Station) or car. Green P parking lots surround the venue and there is ample ticketed street parking.

What can I bring into the event?

Dancewear, water bottle, yoga mat or towel (if you would like for warm up). Please note: no street shoes are allowed in the studios, please leave them in the lobby and bring slippers if you want for moving around the building.
