Art and Authorship in Extreme Circumstance: The Case for Nazi Ghettos
Date and time
Prof. Zemer will visit us from Israel to discuss his recent article on ownership of copyright in works created at Nazi Concentration camps
About this event
After 2 years of lockdown, IP Osgoode is excited to revive the IP Osgoode Speaks Series with this fascinating talk from Prof. Lior Zemer, Dean and Professor of Law at the Harry Radzyner Law School at Reichman University in Israel! On June 9, join us at Cassels, Brock & Blackwell LLP in Toronto, ON for lunch and this fascinating discussion.
Prof. Zemer’s talk will challenge the ownership paradigm of copyrighted works created within the ghettos and concentration camps during Holocaust. The uncomfortable and outrageous findings of Prof. Zemer’s legal excavation draw attention to sensitive human issues and legal controversies that lacked basic human attention for over seven decades.
Admission is free and lunch will be provided.
Please note that all attendees will be required to present photo ID and proof of COVID vaccination upon arrival at Cassels. You will also be required to complete a questionnaire 24 hours before the event.
This event will also be recorded and livestreamed over Osgoode Hall Law School's YouTube channel.
