Event description

Description

Art Day in the Rouge celebrates the area’s rich art history and the links between art and nature. This event features unique art experiences for visitors of all ages, including guided photography walks, art demonstrations and classes, and much more.

Stroll along our Artists Walk and meet artists as they work in front of your eyes. Contribute to our nature mural and learn about the historic practice of fish printing. Take part in a 3D landscape sculpture workshop presented by the Varley Art Gallery. Try our Colour Scavenger Hunt to see if you can collect photos of all the colours in nature?

Is music your favourite art form?
Treat your ears to the sounds of The Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s Brass Quintet who will perform three 20-minute sets at the event between 1 and 2:30 p.m.

Art Battles!
The McMichael Canadian Art Collection will present two Art Battles at 11 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. Join this live outdoor painting competition inspired by Group of Seven landscapes from some of Canada’s most beautiful parks. Register individually or as a team. All ages welcome.

What’s an Art Battle?
Participants are divided into eight teams. Teams have 20 minutes to paint one canvas, while drawing inspiration from a Group of Seven painting and music that will be played. At the end, the audience votes on a winning painting. The winning team gets a prize!
