Event description
Join artists for 4 workshops featuring autobio comics, collage, poetry and painting plus creative wellness tips from Blackbird Healing Arts

About this Event

Paint, write, collage and cartoon your worries away!

This workshop series focuses on the sketchbook as a place where you can freely express and create, and where the process of making art is more important than the end product.

Throughout this four-session workshop series you will learn techniques from local artists, as well as creative exercises and tips for wellness from Blackbird Healing Arts Collective. We will work to fill a sketchbook, with the option of submitting it to the Brooklyn Art Library’s Sketchbook Project, the largest collection of sketchbooks in the world.

We will also showcase selected pages from all of our sketchbooks on Esker's Instagram channel, and they will be presented in an exhibition in Esker’s Bridge Space, a newly launched gallery space at Esker Foundation, dedicated to artwork by young people.

All materials, including The Sketchbook Project sketchbook are included, to be picked up from Esker Foundation (1011 9th Ave. SE, Calgary).

This is a program recommended for teens.

Workshops will happen on Zoom. Details will be sent to Registrants.

Registration is essential, and is for all 4 workshops. Please be sure you are available for the dates/times below (note: there is a 1-week break before the final session in March).

- Autobio Comics with Jillian Fleck, Friday 12 February, 4-6:30PM
