About Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon:
Every March since 2014, people have gathered at 280+ events across six continents, to create and improve thousands of Wikipedia pages for artists like Rebecca Belmore, LaToya Ruby Frazier, Ana Mendieta, and Augusta Savage with the focus of addressing the fact that female artists are underrepresented on Wikipedia. This program is presented in association with Art+Feminism, an international campaign to improve content on women and the arts on Wikipedia, and to encourage women to participate in the online encyclopedia.
Only 10% of Wikipedia editors identify as women. The Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon is seeking to change that statistic by offering a a do-it-yourself and do-it-with-others research and teaching session for editing and contributing to Wikipedia. Tutorials will be provided for those who are new to the editing process.
People of all gender identities and expressions, transgender women, cisgender women, and non binary are invited to join us for this day of communal updating of Wikipedia entries on subjects related to art and feminism.
