About this event
A four-day exploration of arts, heritage, creativity and learning for children ages 8 – 12. Participants will spend each morning exploring their creativity and art skills at Art Gallery of St. Albert and St. Albert Place (SAP) Visual Arts Studios. Then, everyone will walk to the nearby St. Albert Grain Elevator Park (SAGE) and have fun learning about gardening, grain elevators and local history in the afternoon. Be sure to pack a lunch and weather-suitable clothing for your child each day! Some programs will be outdoors as weather permits.

We strive to keep staff, volunteers, visitors and program participants safe in our programming spaces and we will continue to follow all provincial government regulations.
OUR PROGRAMS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING SAFETY PROTOCOLS:
• All staff and instructors are fully vaccinated
• Those experiencing illness should not attend class (refunds/transfers available on a case by case basis)
• Increased cleaning of high-touch surfaces
• Individual supplies for each student
• Masking is encouraged
Please note, there may be an occasion where we are unable to safely offer regular classes consistently due to the unpredictability of COVID-19. This could result in classes being interrupted, canceled, or moved to online, depending on the program.

Studio Projects:
July 26th - Needle Felted Animals
Learn how to needle felt detailed, three-dimensional creatures using colourful wool roving. Our instructor will provide reference material about local bird and animal species for inspiration!
July 27th – Mixed Media Creations
Create an intricate mixed-media artwork on a wood panel using wire, collage, fabric, and other materials! This project is all about exploring different materials and being creative!
July 28th – Grain Elevator Painting on Canvas
Create an acrylic painting on canvas inspired by our beautiful St Albert Grain Elevator Park. Participants will be provided with reference photos of our grain elevators and will learn about basic colour-mixing and painting techniques.
July 29th – Printmaking Studio
Explore the basics of printmaking on the final day of Arts and Heritage Camp. Participants will learn to carve an image into a block of linoleum and then print their image onto paper or fabric using a variety of coloured inks.
