Description

Arts on Tap: Stitching Edition

Sip and stitch at our next Arts on Tap night! Discover the art of textiles and embroidery during this one night event with local textile artist Mandy Forbes. Students will be working on a vintage bumblebee design in the gallery that will be filled with handmade wares created by local artists and artisans (including Mandy!) for our annual CRAFTED exhibition. You will learn proper stitching techniques and discover how satisfying it is to handle a needle and thread. This process tends to take patience, so make sure to relax and have a glass of wine or beer from our cash bar! We supply all of the materials -all you need to do is show up, slip into a chair and embrace the excitement of this traditional art. Each attendee will leave having stitched an original work that they can take home with them, including a hoop and needle so you can get cozy and pursue new stitching adventures during the winter season.

Registration
$60 for non-members

2 for $100

*Registration includes one complimentary drink.

You can also register by calling The ARTS Project at 519-642-2767 or visiting in person (203 Dundas St.)

About the Instructor
Mandy Forbes is a textile artist who uses traditional needlework techniques, image collage and fabric manipulation to create work that often explores themes of nostalgia and childhood. Her most recent work involves embroidering secret identities onto vintage sewing illustrations and creating fabric house sculptures out of repurposed linens. She currently lives and stitches in London, Ontario.

About Arts on Tap
The ARTS Project is taking its previous "Canvas & Cocktails" nights to the next level. Arts on Tap is an “art and sip” workshop series that happens right in our gallery and theatre space. While enjoying a drink with your friends, you can learn from practicing artists and try your hand at different types of art, whether it be painting, ceramics, theatre improv, crafts, and much more. We provide the materials -all you need to bring is your creativity!
