The EnergyBowl is a case competition where student teams of four are challenged to think about the rapidly changing energy industry and possible solutions to address some of its most challenging issues. Students are expected to consider multiple facets such as technological, political, economic, and societal factors before presenting their final solution.
The competition is designed into two phases:
Phase 1 – Preliminary Round: An electronic case will be sent to the participants who will have 72-hours to research and submit their presentation slide-decks with a video recording.
- January 18th - An email entailing case formatting rules will be sent to all participants
- January 22nd, 12 AM (MST) - Preliminary case will be sent to all participants
- January 25th, 12 AM (MST) - Deadline for submitting a recommendation
- February 5th, 9 AM (MST) - Top-10 teams will be selected from all submissions to progress to the final round
Phase 2 – Grand Finale: A two-day event where the top-10 teams will have a chance to present their submissions virtually to a panel of renown judges. The Grand Finale will be concluded with a virtual Evening Banquet which will host over 150 students and over 100 professionals. The top-3 teams announced will be awarded cash prizes.
- February 17th, 6 AM (MST) - Final case will be sent to all participants
- February 18th - Final presentations (presentation order and timing to be determined)
- February 19th - Virtual banquet where the top-3 teams will be announced and awarded cash prizes
