Impact of Disruptive Technological Changes on Quality Professionals

Join us for a silver Bells Buffet as we host the Annual Member's Appreciation and Recognition Dinner Event in honour of American Society for Quality Toronto section members and guests.

The night offers an evening of Quality networking with Industry colleagues and features a moment with Rogerio Boaventura, ASQ Toronto Chair and Chaitanya Baliga, ASQ Toronto Special Project Chair.

Technological drivers of change in the Fourth Industrial Revolution yields a rather more optimistic picture regarding the job creation potential of technologies such as Big Data analytics, mobile internet, the Internet of Things and robotics. However, by far the biggest expected drivers of employment creation are demographic and socio-economic in nature; in particular, the opportunities offered by young demographics and rising middle classes in emerging markets and the rising economic power and aspirations of women. Conversely, there is increasing geopolitical volatility risks being the biggest threat—by far—to employment and job creation at the global level.

Where does Quality Professional fit into these changes in the near future! A moderate decline in Manufacturing and Production roles will impact quality professionals. For example, emerging technologies will require current professionals to focus using quality management systems more that quality tools. Quality tools shall be absorbed by the big data analytics via internet of things. QA professionals of 2020 will be actively involved in risk management, cyber security, compliance, and sustainability arenas.
