Event description

Description

Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA), Alberta Urban Municipal Association (AUMA), and Infrastructure and Asset Management Alberta (IAMA) are excited to bring you half-day asset management capacity-building workshops for elected officials and senior administrators! Through support of the Government of Canada and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) workshops will be offered free of charge.

This workshop is designed to be an introduction to asset management for elected officials and CAOs only.

Although the workshop is open to all municipalities in Alberta, because it is an introduction, it will be most helpful for smaller municipalities or those with limited progress on implementing asset management.

Topic: Weathering the Storm: Asset Management and Climate Change

What will you get out of the workshop?

During this half-day workshop, you will be introduced to asset management through two modules with the following goals:

Module 1—Identify Infrastructure and Service Delivery Vulnerabilities

  • Learning Goal: Identify How Climate Is Changing
  • Learning Goal: Identify Vulnerabilities in Infrastructure and Risks to Service Delivery

Module 2—Identify How to Use Asset Management to Prioritize and Manage Vulnerabilities

  • Learning Goal: Know the Basics of Asset Management and the Connection to Climate Change
  • Learning Goal: Identify How Asset Management is Used to Identify, Prioritize, and Manage Climate Change Risks and Vulnerabilities
  • Learning Goal: Identify How Asset Management is Used to Support Climate Change Mitigation

The workshop is being offered at no cost to remove one of the financial barriers we know can prohibit participation in educational workshop opportunities for elected officials and municipal staff.

Registration and a contiental breakfast will begin at 12:00pm in the Heritage Inn and Convention Centre, workshop to begin at 1:00pm and will run until 5:00pm. Registration is restricted to elected officials and CAOs only, please indicate in the registration form the municipality and position title of each participant.

Please bring a writing utensil and all other materials will be provided.
