Event Details

In todays changing world of technology, Editors and assistants need to have a working knowledge of how the post production process works for every camera and workflow. This course will run attendees through the Picture Editor's workflow for both micro budget and large budget projects. It will begin with a discussion of camera file formats, what the differences are, and their pros and cons. Mark will go through the entire post production process for Picture Editors, including software and setup, transcoding, importing footage, organizing the footage, paperwork and the inner workings of an editing room, different types of outputs, and locking a project in preparation for sound and online.

This is a hands-on training course and Avid and DaVinci Resolve will be covered. Computer workstations are supplied, there is no requirement for attendees to bring any equipment.  The class is on two Saturdays as this give the student time to go home and practice what they have learned as the software used (DaVinci Resolve and Avid) have free versions that are downloadable.  Then you can come back with any questions the next week.

Instructor: Mark Arcieri

DGC Member Mark Arcieri has been editing Film and Television for over 20 years. From a humble beginning in a small Northern Ontario town he decided to bust out to the big smoke of Toronto. Mark quickly made a name for himself as one of Canada's top assistant editors, working on over 300 hours of film and TV on such shows as Twitch City, Cover Me, Black Harbour, The Rez. Producers started noticing Mark's passion to never stop improving his craft and his keen eye for performance and story which led him to be the editor award winning show such as, The Famous Jett Jackson and Degrassi: The Next Generation. Mark had the pleasure of working with some of Canada's top talented directors including Shawn Levy, Bruce MacDonald, and George Mihalka.

When he's not busy spreading holiday cheer, Mark cuts other films including Red: Wherewolf Hunter starting Falicia Day for Syfy, and House Of The Rising Sun for Lions Gate staring Amy Smart, Dave Bautista, and Danny Trejo. Mark has worked with Apple and Digital Film Tree in California to build and use one of the worlds first Apple Xsan networks using Final Cut Pro on the ESPN series Tilt, and has consulted on films such as 300 and Tom Green's Prank Star.

Most recently, Mark has been the Picture Editor for the last two seasons of The Good Witch
