Breaking Rank: Refusing White Supremacy is an online training that provides a comprehensive introduction to white supremacy, white fragility and white solidarity. This 1.5 hour training will ask participants to dig deeper into issues of race and white privilege through interactive and experiential activities. We will focus on Canadian experiences of racism and anti-Black racism while strategizing on actions forward.

This online training is facilitated by strategic senior leader, community organizer and equity consultant Hawa Y. Mire.

Hawa has twelve years of non-profit experience focused on high-impact community development in the youth, housing and education sectors. In 2017 she completed a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies from York University where her research examined community storytelling as a place of transformation. Hawa is a critical writer and commentator that has been featured on Macleans, Briarpatch Magazine, Metro Morning, CBC, CTV, Rabble among others. You can learn more about her work at www.hymire.ca.
