Event description
This student workshop will go over the big principles to take into account when building a circular business.

About this Event

Are you new to the circular economy? This workshop will introduce to main concepts, showing how engineering, design and business models work together, with plenty of real examples. Participants will be expected to complete ~4 hours of self-directed material (which we will supply) before the interactive session.

The in-person workshop will include a recap of the main points in the supplied material, followed by an icebreaker to get to know the other participants, and an interactive workshop exploring do the “service flip”. In this activity from IDEO’s Circular Design Guide you’ll workshop how you might turn common products into a service model. Could your product be transformed into something that takes on a new or unexpected service experience? At the end of the session you'll pitch your Service Flip idea.

The workshop will be facilitated by:

  • Associate Professor Maryanne Large, School of Physics, University of Sydney
  • Dr. Melinda Gaughwin, Associate Lecturer in Design Innovation, University of Sydney
  • Nina Juhl, Marketing and Community Manager, INCUBATE

In order to keep our community safe, we ask you to not attend this workshop if you are displaying cold or flu-like symptoms. Please practice physical distancing and wash your hands regularly.

Sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer will be available at the venue.
