Authenticity in Teaching Economics

Presented by: Jason Childs, author of Microeconomics, First Canadian Edition & Macroeconomics, First Canadian Edition

Economics has a reputation among students as being abstract, dry, and at times removed from reality. Clearly this reputation isn't an accurate description of the discipline to its practitioners. It is important to keep in mind, however, that authenticity is in the eyes of the audience, not the instructor. This session will seek to explore the gap between how we understand the discipline and how its relevance can be bridged by using up to date and authentic examples in the classroom.
