Description

Join us at Barbara Frum Library where Toronto-based author Ellin Bessner will be discussing, and answering questions about her book, Double Threat.

This book explores the role of Canadian Jews in the war effort and the struggles they endured as they fought against Fascism while at the same time facing widespread anti-semitism and the dangers of being captured and identified as Jews.

About the Author:

Ellin Bessner is a Montreal born professor of journalism at Centennial College who conducted hundreds of interviews and extensive archival research to paint a complex picture of the 17,000 Canadian Jews – about 10 per cent of the Jewish population in wartime Canada– who chose to enlist during World War II.
