Description

Autism Ontario - Royal Ontario Museum with MagnusCards

REGISTRATION OPENS FEBRUARY 8TH 9AM

With the support of the ROM Community Access Network (ROMCAN), Autism Ontario invites you to a FREE social learning event to use exciting new technology powered by Magnusmode at the Royal Ontario Museum. Participants will have the opportunity to use Magnusmode's mobile application, MagnusCards, to navigate the ROM with confidence and independence!

Before attending the event, be sure to download MagnusCards for free in the AppStore or GooglePlay and review the ROM Card Decks. The Card Decks will prepare visitors and familiarize them with the environment beforehand, and help them navigate the ROM to support a stress-free visit.

About MagnusCards:
MagnusCards is a unique mobile application that can be used by parents, individuals and community partners to create digital social stories to build life skills for independent living and community involvement. The ROM has used the MagnusCards platform to create two Card Deck guides: 'Going to the ROM' and 'Dinosaur Tour'. These guides feature step-by-step instructions with pictures, audio and text to help visitors learn new skills for navigating the ROM Experience.

Checklist

  1. • Download MagnusCards for free in AppStore or GooglePlay
  2. • Create an account
  3. • Select the ‘Arts’ category and click ‘Download More Cards’ to see a list.
  4. • Download and review “ROM- Going to the ROM” and the “ROM- Dinosaur Tour”
  5. • Share your MagnusCards story with us after your visit at the ROM!

About the ROM Community Access Network (ROMCAN):

Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2018, the ROM Community Access Network (ROMCAN) helps to eliminate financial, social and cultural barriers that may otherwise stand between the community and the Museum. Through our partnerships with Autism Ontario and 71 other non-profit community organizations, we are unlocking the ROM’s power to engage, share and inspire, and extending the Museum’s reach to a greater diversity of visitors.

DID YOU KNOW THE ROM ALSO OFFERS:

*Special exhibitions (Vikings, Dior and Wildlife Photographer of the Year) are subject to a surcharge.
