Children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) can have difficulty completing activities of daily living that have multiple steps. These activities include, among others, personal hygiene and self-care, household chores and cooking. It is important to teach these skills in order to develop independence now and for the future.

This workshop will give a practical overview of ABA and explain how this approach can be used to teach activities of daily living. Participants will gain a better understanding of elements of sound programming designed to teach these very important skills.

Suzanne Murphy, BCaBA is an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) consultant. She has supported and guided children, youth, adults, their families and professionals for over 34 years.

The various roles and responsabilities Suzanne has held over the course of her career have allowed her to work in a variety of settings, including the school system, early childhood settings, day treatment programs for children, youth and adults with developmental disabilities, as well as in services based on the principles of ABA. Suzanne is a strong advocate for individuals with additional needs, their families and the people who support them. She believes in remaining up-to-date and open-minded to be truly effective. Additionally, Suzanne is the French Language Services Consultant for Autism Ontario, a role that allows her to advance services and resources to Francophones touched by ASD.

**Admission is free for professionals and parents of children with ASD**

NOTE: Supervision of children/youth at this Social Learning Opportunity is the sole responsibility of parents/guardians and caregivers; childcare will not be provided./ À noter: Durant cette occasion d’apprentissage social, les parents, les tuteurs et les fournisseurs de soins demeurent les seuls responsables de la surveillance des enfants ou des adolescents; aucun service de garde n’est fourni.
