Mini Wheats Horse Program in Partnership with the Timmins Therapeutic Riding Association/ Programme équestre Mini Wheats, en partenariat avec Timmins Therapeutic Riding Association

Due to limited spaces this club is only opened for children with ASD, ages 6-15 years only. Parents or caregivers must accompany their child for the duration of this event./Ce club ne peut accueillir qu’un nombre limité de participants. Toutes les places sont donc réservées aux enfants qui ont reçu un diagnostic d’autisme, âgés de 6 à 15 ans seulement.

Please note: For safety purposes, participants need to be able to work independently and follow instructions. Each participant will need to fill out a registration and waiver form prior to beginning the program at www.ttra.ca

 Join us for 4 weeks starting Wednesday, September 6th from 7:00-8:00 PM
Additional Dates: September 13, 20 and 27

The Mini Wheats program promotes active participation in a variety of unmounted educational activities involving miniature horses. This program will help develop effective communication skills, build leadership and creative problem solving skills.

RULES:

1. Please wear proper footwear i.e. rubber boots, hiking boots, cowboy boots or sneakers. No sandals or open toe shoes please.

2. Rubber boots are not recommended for winter months. 

3. We ask that you wear no jewellery.

4. Long hair is to be tied back.

5. Please keep your cell phones off.

6. Please wear long, well-fitted pants (stretch if possible).

7. Gloves are required in the winter months.

8. We ask that you bring no gum.

9. Please be advised that we are a smoke-free facility.

10. There is a specified snack area provided, away from the horses.

11. Only those registered for a workshop or class may participate in activities on the premises.

  Le programme Mini Wheats favorise une participation active à différentes activités éducatives mettant en vedette des chevaux miniatures. Il ne s’agit toutefois pas d’un cours d’équitation. Objectifs de ce programme : améliorer les habiletés de communication, acquérir des compétences en leadership et apprendre à résoudre des problèmes en faisant preuve de créativité.

General FAQ


1.) Do I need to print out ticket or email confirmations to attend this event?

For most of our events there is no need to print anything, unless the event specifies otherwise.  When you arrive at the event, you will have to check in at the registration desk.  You will be asked for your name and how many people are attending with you.  That's all.


2.) Do I need to bring proof of diagnosis?

No, not needed.  Again, just check in at the registration desk and enjoy the event.


3.) Is there a cost to attend this event?

Almost all of our events are free of charge because the cost is covered by Autism Ontario's Potential Programme, in partnership with Ontario’s Ministry of Children & Youth Services and the local Autism Ontario Chapter.  If there is a cost, you will see it on the registration page when you select how many ticket you want.


4.) Do I need to be a member of Autism Ontario to register and participate?

No.  While membership does provide other great opportunities, events provided through Autism Ontario’s Potential Programme are open to all families of children with ASD, under the age of 18, who reside in Ontario.
